Monday, September 23

Body Worlds: Pulse

The human body comes to life…well, not really… at this body exhibit. Experience the science and splendor of the human body through Plastination, where body donors who willed their bodies, after death, are preserved for the education of future generations, and act as guides and teachers on this unforgettable journey of discovery. See the mystery beneath your skull and learn about the human body, its form and function, its vulnerability and potential, and the challenges it faces navigating the 21st century at this inspiring, immersive multimedia exhibition about health, wellness, and living to the beat of life in a vibrant, fast-paced city.

Empire State Building
7:30 p.m.–9:00 p.m.

Prefer breathtaking views to bodies? Us, too. The Empire State Building’s Observation Deck, 86 and 102 floors up, offers up 360-degree views of skyscrapers, parks, and the beauty that is NYC. You can’t live in NYC and not see it from a quarter mile up in the sky.

Tuesday, September 24

Museum of Sex
3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Tuesdays are for… talking about a trip to the Museum of Sex, where you’ll be presented with the history, evolution, and cultural significance of human sexuality. Looking for a better description? Panda porn. You’re welcome.

Shades: A Black and Latina Women’s Collective Reception
3:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m.
41 Park Row, 9th Floor Reception Area
Mix and mingle with the women of Shades, the sister to the Urban Male Initiative, which was born last semester. Throughout the year, this group of emerging scholars will participate in workshops, including one with the Provost on the importance of undergraduate research, another on table service and etiquette, and even self-defense classes for women. Also including a civic engagement component, Shades mentors and mentees can participate in community service on urban farms in the South Bronx. Everyone is invited to attend the reception, no matter what race or ethnicity.

Wednesday, September 25

Queer Students of Color Reception

Join the LGBTQA and Social Justice Center and the Office of Multicultural Affairs for a reception for Queer People of Color and our allies. Meet, greet, and eat! Learn about each department’s services, meet student group leaders, and get connected to academic and internship opportunities.

Top of the Rock
6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Meet at the Info Desk at 5:45 p.m.
Also with 360 degree views of NYC but just 70 floors high is the exhilarating Top of the Rock observation deck. See Central Park, the Chrysler Building, and even the Empire State Building, which you wouldn’t get if you were on their deck.

Cinderella: The Musical
6:45 p.m.–10:00 p.m.
Meet at the Info Desk at 6:30 p.m.
Make your Wednesday a magical one by salagadoola mechicka boola bibbidi-bobbidi-booing over to see Cinderella’s sassier side in the new Broadway musical. And not to worry, you’ll be home well before the stroke of midnight.

Beach and Boardwalk. Nathan’s hot dogs. The Cyclone. Luna Park. All this and much more at the one and only Coney Island.

Saturday, September 28

The Trip to Bountiful

How to end Welcome Week(s)? Cicely Tyson, Vanessa Williams, and Cuba Gooding, Jr. Sound good? A woman’s determination to go home one last time restores home and faith to her family in this Broadway show. Book the bus to Bountiful before it closes on October 9.
