Pace Pride: Celebrating Coming Out Day!

Come out and celebrate as the LGBTQA and Social Justice Center and Stonewall Coalition host the National Coming Out Day Fair on October 11 in NYC.

On October 11, stop by the front of One Pace Plaza from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. as the LGBTQA and Social Justice Center, Stonewall Coalition, Dean for Students, Counseling Center, OMA, Res Life, Study Abroad, and Women and Gender Studies host the annual Coming Out Day Fair, featuring  poets, performers, and passionate people speaking up and out!  Check out art tables, competitions, and raffles;  get connected to campus organizations and meet the LGBTQA Center staff; and enjoy some free pizza!

Also coming up on October 18, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room, is Miscegenations, a workshop that examines intersections of identity followed by an incredible performance addressing historical and contemporary relationships between race, gender identity, and sexuality and other aspects of cultural identity such as age, nationality, religion, ability, and socio-economic status.

And that’s not all. Every Friday at noon, the Center hosts LGBTQA discussion groups on important topics like coming out, being an ally, equality, and more. Also, Safe Zone Training will be offered in November for students, staff, and faculty interested in find out how to be an ally to LGBTQ individuals. Finally, the Center will be collecting clothes and toiletries for LGBTQA homeless youth. The collection boxes will be at at the fair, outside of the LGBTQA Center, as well as next to the tables in One Pace Plaza on Thursdays where they will hand out information about the Center, events, and other opportunities to get involved.
