Setter Spirit

The Setters don’t just go out onto the fields and courts each day with their heads in the game. They go with their hearts. For the second year in a row, the lacrosse team makes one teenager a part of the team.

One honorary Setter is returning for the second straight season! The Pace Lacrosse team will participate in the Friends of Jaclyn Program and welcome Jeremiah back to the team during the 2011 lacrosse season.

Established in 2005, the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation works to improve the quality of life of children who are diagnosed with pediatric brain tumors. FOJ matches a child in need of love, support, and friendship with a college or high school sports team based on geographic basis, the child and family’s needs, and the team, coach, and athletic director’s commitment to the foundation’s goals.

And Jeremiah is the perfect fit for Pace. He joined the Setters last season and attends most practices and all games, including traveling to road games. An avid fan of lacrosse, he has been a fixture on the Pace sidelines as he provides inspiration and support to the team. Head Coach Dave Carty said, “Jeremiah has been a tremendous addition to the Pace Lacrosse family and a remarkable person. He has taught our team the meaning of true courage and will continue to be an inspirational leader for our team.”

Pace opens the 2011 season against Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ on Friday, February 18. The Setters’ home opener is scheduled for Saturday, March 26 against Franklin Pierce University at 1:00 p.m. so mark the date on your calendar to come out and show your support for Jeremiah and the lacrosse team.
