So what else is going on in PLV? On September 25, get ready for a cultural celebration like no other with the sisters of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated-Beta Delta Chapter, the Office of Multicultural Affairs, Programming Committee and OLAS at Raices: An Afro-Latino Celebration.
There will be presentations and performances by Alma Moyo, an Afro-Boricua musical group, and Alicia Anabel Santos, filmmaker of the documentary “Afro-Latinos: The Untaught Story” and author of the play “I Was Born.” Additionally, after the performances there will be a dance workshop hosted by Alma Moyo where you can learn to dance Bomba y Plena, Palos, and Congas!
On September 26, enjoy popcorn and a movie in Butcher Suite with OLAS, featuring In the Time of the Butterflies starring Salma Hayek.
Alpha Phi Alpha wants you to Find Your Roots at an event that traces the lineage of individuals back to the closest African tribe and region that their D.N.A. resembles on September 27.
September 28 is for Speed Dating with Sigma Gamma Rho, where you’ll take part in a classic round of speed dating (minus the dating–we’re just making friends here!) and learn about the pros and cons of relationships in college, all while noshing on some delicious desserts.
