On Tuesday, January 12, 2010, a massive earthquake shook the island of Haiti to its core. More than 200,000 children, men, and women were killed, and an additional three million were in need of emergency aid. The world watched and sprung into activism, but with the passing of time, simply forgot.
On September 30, join us to remember, to help, and to listen as the Office of Multicultural Affairs and Student Development and Campus Activities present Haiti on My Mind–A Fundraiser.
Spend an evening with author and activist, Edwidge Danticat, as she reads selections from her books and reflects on Haiti’s past, present, and future at the Schimmel Center in NYC.
Suggested donation is $10, but no one will be turned away. Autographed copies of Danticat’s works will also be available for $20.
