In just hours, students will begin moving in, and before you even have a chance to unpack, SDACA has events ready and waiting for you. So put down those suitcases and come on down…to Welcome Week in NYC.

Forgot something at home? On September 4, SDACA will sponsor a trip to IKEA in Brooklyn via water taxi.

On September 5, a trip to the most famous boardwalk in the nation (no, not Jersey Shore’s famous Seaside Heights) to see the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Coney Island Illuscination will wow you.

Celebrate Labor Day on September 6 with some leis, hula skirts, and food at a Hawaiian  BBQ in the Courtyard of One Pace Plaza.

Convocation is on September 7 followed by an open mic night with Deejay Spynfo for those of you aspiring rappers, guitarists, singers, and poets.

Classes kick off on September 8, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun. Meet your Student Government Association reps and get some free giveaways in the afternoon, followed by a South Street Seaport walking tour and Bodies exhibit in the evening.

No classes for you on Thursday, September 9, but that doesn’t mean the welcoming ceases, as the Office of Multicultural Affairs treks up to Museum Mile’s El Museo Del Barrio, New York’s premier museum that exhibits works created by a cross section of Latino, Caribbean, and Latin American artists.

On September 10, the once-in-a-semester Fall Activities Fair will help you make some lifelong friends, but you can read more about that here. At night, the Mets take on the Phillies, and you can be there singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” for just $10.

There are dozens of other events happening after that, so click here to read more. And we’ll keep you updated on all of them next week.
