Perk Up!

We know the summer’s over and it’s getting darker earlier each day, but the Pace Perk wants you to turn that frown upside down as they host a Back to School party on September 12.

Three years ago, the Pace Association of Collegiate Entrepreneurs opened a student-run business under the Briarcliff cafeteria for what was supposed to be a five-week run. Quickly, the Pace Perk Café became a part of the Briarcliff Campus…and our hearts. Open until 1:00 a.m. daily, the Pace Perk is your late night option for food, drinks, and hanging out. So whether you want to snack on some nachos, sing your heart out at an open mic, or play a round of pool, the Perk is your place!

And on Thursday, September 12, from 9:00 p.m. to midnight, they want you to join them in kicking off the school year at their first event: the Back to School party.

There will be dancing and music by PLV radio station WPAW all night, contests, tournaments, free raffles, and much more. Cool prizes will be given to all winning participants, so be sure to come get your free items and start the school year off right.

Three’s a Crowd

Oompa Loompa, doompadee-do, I’ve got the perfect party for you. Oompa Loompa, doompadah-dee, if you are wise you’ll listen to me. We’ve got your golden ticket for the Pace Perk’s Wonkaversary party!

Brace yourself, folks. The Pace Perk Café is turning three. And with the milestone comes a Willy Wonka-themed soiree you’re definitely going to want to take the great glass elevator to. On April 4, we’re going to party like it’s 1971 (or 2005 for the few of you who preferred the Tim Burton/Johnny Depp version) with food, free t-shirts, free door prizes, coupons, entertainment, and much more!

The Mic Is Yours

Now’s the time to bust a rhyme, crack a joke or sing some folk as WPAW presents Open Mic Night at the Pace Perk.

Testing…one…two. We’ve seen America’s talent, but now we’re looking for Pace’s, so bring your singing voice, dancing shoes, stand-up comedy, spoken poetry and rapping skills, or even beatboxing to WPAW’s Open Mic Night at 9:00 p.m. on December 6 at the Pace Perk Café on the Briarcliff Campus.

If you’re interested in performing, e-mail wpaw@pace.edu to sign up. For those of you who’d like to keep your talents hidden, stop by anyway for a night of entertainment.

Let’s Get Lyrical

Attention poets and slammasters: The Pace Perk is looking for you to take the stage and express yourself at their upcoming poetry slam.

The rhythm is gonna get you on October 11 as the Pace Perk Café hosts a Poetry Slam from 10:00 p.m. to midnight on the Briarcliff Campus.

Poetry slams can feature a broad range of voices, styles, cultural traditions, and approaches to writing and performance, so whether you’re into the rhythmic dub style, performance poetry, or have a heartfelt piece you’d like to get off your chest, come on out and take the stage! If you’re interested in speaking up, email info@paceperk.com to sign up. If you’d rather sit this slam out, stop by anyway to watch, enjoy some talent and food, and maybe even judge the competition. Winners will get a prize TBD.
