Good Thing Going

How did you get to be here? Merrily We Roll Along tells the story of talented Broadway composer turned successful, yet jaded film producer Franklin Shepard, but backwards. Running in time from 1976 to 1955, Merrily takes you on a reverse journey from Franklin as a rich Hollywood producer with no friends to the beginning, when three young and talented best friends began their journey to write a musical.

A Stephen Sondheim cult classic, Merrily We Roll Along was rolled over by bad reviews when it premiered in 1981, but was revisited and overhauled in 2011 and 2012 to critical acclaim.

With music and lyrics by Sondheim, book by George Furth, and based on the original play by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart, Merrily We Roll Along will be performed by Pace students, with direction by Pace’s own Amy Rogers, for five nights at the Schaeberle Theater on the NYC Campus.

Performances will be held on March 20–22 at 8:00 p.m., March 23 at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., and March 24 at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. For information or reservations, e-mail performingarts@pace.edu.
