Pre-homecoming festivities kick off on the NYC Campus next week on October 15 with a Where Is T-Bone? contest and club banner competition for the upcoming pep rally. Voting also opens on October 17 for Homecoming king and queen.
But the real fun starts the week of October 22 with a photo extravaganza with T-Bone sponsored by the Legend Yearbook and Homecoming Spirit Committee. Stop by the Library between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to take pictures with the Pace Setter himself.
That night, if you only had the nerve, you’d join SDACA and friends for an MP3 experiment at Improv Everywhere, in the front lobby of One Pace Plaza from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. You’ll download an original MP3 file to your phones, synchronize your watches to an atomic clock on our website, head out to Foley Square, and blend in with others. Then at the predetermined time, everyone presses play, and hilarity ensues as participants carry out ridiculous, coordinated instructions delivered to their headphones via narrator “Steve” and everyone else tries to figure out what is going on.
On Tuesday, October 23, put ‘em up and represent your class as you take on an obstacle course in the Pace Gym and battle to the finish to win cool prizes from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
On Wednesday, October 24, join us for an afternoon of authentic Oktoberfest food, activities, and games from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Courtyard, Student Union, Multipurpose Room, and Frankfort Parking Lot. Departments and Student Organizations will also be hosting carnival games during the event.
Later that evening, bring your Pace pride to the Homecoming Pep Rally, featuring DJs, games, our sports teams, cheerleaders, and the Homecoming Court for a night filled with laughter and fun in the C-Level Gym from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
On Thursday, October 25, P.A.C.E Board will host their annual Homecoming Concert in the C-Level Gym. Doors open at 8:00 p.m. and close at 11:00 p.m. Performers will be revealed soon, so stay tuned.
Lions and Tony’s and Broadway, oh my! Spend your Friday in Times Square at a Broadway show as SDACA hosts three trips to see Lion King, Once, and Nice Work If You Can Get It.
Prefer old Hollywood to Broadway? Put on your ruby slippers and dress to impress in your best formal wear to celebrate the new year and homecoming at the second annual Homecoming Formal from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. at the South Street Seaport’s Pier 17. Homecoming king and queen will be crowned.
On Saturday, choose from a ton of events including a double decker bus tour around NYC, neighborhood walking tour with the Dean for Students, a good ol fashioned pick-up basketball game with alumni, trips to Madame Tussauds, Ripley’s Believe It or Not, and the Spy Exhibit, and even more Broadway shows including Peter and the Star Catcher, Evita, and how could we pass up Wicked?
If your parents are in town, send them off to see the Dean for Students at the Parents Coffee House from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room, where they’ll meet other Pace parents and hear about the University’s new Parents Council, a group established for parents who are interested in being more involved in the Pace Community.
The Schimmel Theater will also host several Pace Presents including Justin Townes Earle’s two-night tribute to Woody Guthrie and a banjo summit featuring banjo mastermind Béla Fleck.
