Saturday Night in Bombay

The Schimmel opens up its doors to tabla virtuoso Zakir Hussain as the Pace Presents series continues this weekend.

Tabla superstar Zakir Hussain, India’s most celebrated living artist and an extraordinary percussionist of international renown, takes the Schimmel stage on Saturday, October 13 at 7:30 p.m. Joined by bansuri flute prodigy Rakesh Chaurasia, a nephew of maestro Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, the duo will bring you an exciting evening of Indian classical music.

Widely regarded as one of the world’s greatest percussionists, Zakir Hussain is known equally for his mastery of the classical Hindustani repertoire of ragas and for his historic collaborations with John McLaughlin and L. Shankar on Shakti, and the Grateful Dead’s Mickey Hart on Planet Drum.

Pace students may purchase tickets for $5 with a valid University ID two hours before the beginning of the show. For more information on the show and other Pace Presents events, visit the Schimmel website.
