I Am Woman

From a vigil in memory of victims of domestic violence to a torchlit walk in high heels to raise awareness of human trafficking to the famous Vagina Monologues, and much more, Omega Phi Beta presents their Week of Illumination on the PLV Campus.

Join the sisters of Omega Phi Beta sorority on February 27-March 3 for their annual Week of Illumination: I Am Woman on the PLV Campus.

On Monday, February 27, join them in a night of remembrance as they host Steps to Silence,  a vigil in memory of people who have suffered from domestic violence mainly because of issues of drug and alcohol abuse, at 9:17 p.m. in Gottesman Room. Write wishes for those who have been affected, which will be placed on a bulletin board near Gottesman Patio.

On Tuesday, February 28, OPB hosts the Beta Bar, an interactive discussion featuring mocktails and mingling followed by a presentation and discussion on the effects of alcohol and alcoholism beginning at 9:17 p.m. in Gottesman Room.

On Wednesday, February 29, at 9:17 p.m. in Gottesman,  NALFO, UPC, NPHC, IFC, OPB and TKE will host the 2nd Annual A Walk in Her Shoes, featuring a presentation on the severity of human/sex trafficking, particulary in Eastern Europe. The presentation will be followed by a walk around Choate Pond, where brothers of TKE will wear high heels, highlighting enslaved European women in the sex trade, and all will walk a torchlight path to show solidarity. Suggested donation of $2 per person and 50% will be donated to Sanctuary for Families, a NYC-based nonprofit dedicated exclusively to serving domestic violence victims, sex trafficking victims, and their children.

Celebrate V-Day on the NYC Campus on March 1, as Pace students present Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues, a popular celebration of female sexuality in all its complexity and women’s stories of intimacy, vulnerability, and sexual self-discovery.  The show, directed by Pace student Colton Childs, begins at 8:17 p.m. at the Schimmel Center and tickets are $7 and will be sold at the door. All proceeds will go towards My Sister’s Place, a local charity fighting domestic violence.

Finally, on Saturday, March 3, Omega Phi Beta hosts the 3rd Annual My Lady, My Heroine Banquet highlighting the week’s theme of “I Am Woman.” The banquet costs $10 for Pace students , $12 for outside guests, and includes a presentation, speakers, and discussion.
